Mishima Furikake 13g
Furikake is the Japanese sprinkle mix that sits on the table where we would have the salt cellar. Mishima’s blend is built on toasted sesame, dried seaweed and salt, and gives umami, crispness and a little saltiness in one movement.
The most common use is over steamed rice, ideally sprinkled on just before serving so the seaweed keeps its crunch. It is also good on onigiri, in bowls with salmon and avocado, over fried eggs, on a sandwich with mayonnaise and over popcorn. Sprinkled on hot food, the sesame smells noticeably stronger.
The 13 gram tub is small on purpose. Furikake fades quickly as the seaweed draws moisture, so it should be kept dry and tightly closed and used up within a few months of opening. See also sushi rice and Japanese goods.
