Yutaka Panko 180g
Yutaka panko in a 180 gram bag is a sensible size if you bread food now and then and would rather not have a large bag standing open. The flakes are coarse and airy, as Japanese breadcrumbs should be, and give a coating that is crisper and less greasy than ordinary breadcrumbs.
Use flour, egg and panko in that order, and press the flakes lightly into place. For deep-frying, 170 degrees is enough. For oven baking it pays to toast the panko golden in a dry pan first, otherwise it stays pale. The bag is enough for four or five portions of breaded chicken.
It suits tonkatsu, ebi fry, chicken schnitzel and breaded fish, and works as a crisp topping on gratins. If you need more, the same product comes in 300 gram. See panko.
